Professional Edition Version 4.7 ExpSAFE Projectile Calculator Pro is a Level 1 mobile engineering tool that has been developed to enable generic projectile / primary fragmentation assessments to be conducted in support of quick-scan safety assessments.  The primary reference source for formulae used in this app was the International Ammunition Technical Guides (IATG) 01.80: Formulae for Ammunition Management (with UNODA permission). Of note is the UNODA project ‘UN SaferGuard’. Their website is an excellent source of technical information and offers a wide range of online complimentary tools relating to ammunition safety. The site introduces and summarises scientifically proven and sound formulae that may be used to support the decision-making and risk management processes.   FEATURES OF THIS VERSION The professional edition provides the following functionality: Ability to calculate fragmentation initial velocities based on the gurney constant associated with selectable explosives types. Calculate projectile range based on simplified open source formulae. Determine the the strike probability on a defined target (area) at a specific distance based on a multiple step process that uses Motts distribution to calculate number of fragments heavier than a reference fragment mass. Included is the option to switch between two areal density calculations in order to predict the probability of a hit. Calculate Hazardous Fragment Distance (HFD) aligned to munitions storage based on explosives weight and V50 velocity based on fragment shape factor and drag coefficient. Show the calculated fragmentation distance used by EXPLOSIM in support of training scenarios. Calculate generic disposal boundary distances for controlled and public areas similar to that available on the UN Saferguard website. Ability to toggle between imperial and metric units for input parameters and results. Disclaimer Statement The outcomes reflected in this application have been technically validated as far as reasonably possible by the developer. Nevertheless the user should be aware of the limitation associated with Level 1 Engineering Tools and understand this app is for advisory use only; it has NOT been authoritative approved for formal analysis or decision-making assessments. The author and developer cannot be held responsible for any mishap or accident resulting from decisions supported by this application.
